Wildlife Photography With Character – Four Tips
The time we spend with our families is one of the most treasured and most important to us. Which is why, as much as we can, we also try to capture our every move with them. Whether it is a simple everyday activity with them or a grand reunion celebration, family photography is something we all shouldn’t miss-out on. So when we become older, we can always look back to the good memories we had with our loved ones. Here are some of the tips in capturing different instances of cherished memories with your family.
If using rectangular tables, take the birthday party pictures FACING THE WIDE END OF THE RECTANGLE. When doing this, use the wide angle setting on your camera. If you shoot any birthday photos from the narrow end, use as large an F-stop number as possible (optimally F-22 or higher). However, even if you do, some of the guests will probably still be out of focus (hence, the “shoot from the wide end” suggestion).
As Kauai family photographers we know the best light is either early morning or late afternoon or evening. This is when richness and depth of light is available so if possible try to get your family together for a group shot at these times of day. This is of course not always possible due to the event they are attending itself such as a christening or wedding. But, the principle still stands. If this is not possible then try to get them all into bright open shade or light just inside a doorway or a window. You may need to think about ‘fill in flash’ to avoid unsightly shadows.
Once in a while, give your child a disposable camera, and allow the child to be a photographer and a director of toys, pets, friends, family, etc. You might be surprised at what your child creates, and you just might be pointing your child to a career. At the very least, you are creating memories.
KNOW THE LOCATION. Whether the party takes place in a home party room or amusement park realize that each location has its own photographic blueprint Based on the location’s blueprint prepare beforehand for family photographers the correct digital camera settings for white balance metering mode and exposure compensation.
You also need to consider things like keywords and choosing the best title for your picture. You want your picture to be found when a buyer uses a sites mini search engine, so putting a relevant title and keyword to your picture is imperative.
Wedding favours can be anything really, but I reckon that they are better if they are practical. We gave very atypical bottle-openers away at our wedding. They had a pattern of a couple getting married, our names and the date. They also had a magnet in them to collect the bottle top as it came off. I have seen dozens of our bottle-openers stuck on our guests’ fridges over the years and the wedding was three years ago.
